We are a group of friends who have been surfing for over 20 years.

Our lives may have gone in different directions, but surfing still brings us together. We have travelled the world together and enjoyed unforgettable moments surfing. Over the years we have tried it all: surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing and SUP. Once we were on a surf trip at a wonderful but remote place. The conditions were beautiful. We do not remember how, but Rafa dinged his board. The nearest surf shop was probably an one hour drive away. We had an UV curing board repair kit with us but it would not work because there was not enough sunlight before sunset. 

We simply wanted to get back into the water as fast as possible. 

Rafa tried to stuff some surf wax into the ding but it did not hold long. Over a few beers that night we thought that there must be an easier and faster way to repair small damage on your board. One that is really easy to handle, without messy liquids, and that does not need strong sunlight. One that would bring you back into the water in a few minutes. One that would cure under water. 
It was Thomas who came up with the idea of something like chewing gum. Marc who, is a chemical engineer, tossed in the idea of using an epoxy putty. Back home we started searching the market. There were some putty products available but we found none that would bring us back to the water really fast. So we started discussing the idea with a leading European epoxy expert. This is how we started SURF GUM.
